For the final day of our exciting European tour, after we had travelled across five countries, in cars, on boats, on trains and then more driving, we finally arrived at the beautiful Westendorp Farm near Aalten in the Netherlands.
Dear Joke, the queen of Westendorp farm, greeted us so warmly and welcomed us into her beautiful home on this lovely farm. The countryside wrapped our tired bones in it’s peaceful embrace, Joke fed us delicious home cooked treats and we spent a brilliant day on the farm before heading off to our grand finale at De Lantaern in Zevenaar.
After looking at all of the animals and fields, Joke took us on a tour of her Follies and fascinating museum that she and her family have created for their yearly country fair that they hold on the farm in June.
We are still speechless about the quirky and brilliant sculptures, castles, miniature chapels, vast vintage collections, underground bunkers and all of the amazing and unbelievable treasures that Westendorp holds.
What a place!
Thank you Joke and all of your family for having us to stay and making us feel so welcome on your brilliant and astonishing farm.
Here are some photographs of the follies and museum, they really don’t do the magic of this place justice, so if you find yourself in the Netherlands this June, pop along to their brilliant country fair and see the magic for yourself!
